The following
is from the email update sent out by Mike Weikert in May 2001
I want to thank each of you for
your prompt response and update through the UTA Alumni
website - we now have about 25% of our brothers data completely
updated. The Alumni Board is currently in the process
of finalizing a strategy to deal with the status of our UTA
charter, our "unprecedented debt" (National's
words), getting our local affairs in order after a some
years of neglect and most importantly - and why I have gotten
involved again - reestablishing our network among the brothers
from UTA.
As we finalize our strategy we will
begin to get the message out. One item that has already
been talked/rumored about out there is re-colonizing at UTA.
Good or bad (depending on your opinion) we (the Alumni Board)
will not be pursuing that until:
1) We (the UTA
Alumni Organization) are financially sound and organized
2) UTA's Greek
system is sound and the university's enrollment on the rise
3) Triangle National
commits to support a recolonization effort and can allocate appropriate
people and $ resources to ensure success, and
4) We the UTA brothers
agree that it is time.
My feedback to National is that I do
not believe we here at UTA will what to discuss this topic
within the next 3-4 years, which I do not think is
necessarily what they wanted to hear but reality none the less.
In the mean time lets forget about an Active organization at UTA
and focus on what is beneficial to each of us now, renewing
our friendships and putting a network in place to leverage
both personally, professionally and organizationally.
You can help me again by forwarding
our web site address (www.trianglealumni.com)
to any brother that you have contact information for so that we
can continue to cast a larger web around ourselves. You can
also send me a phone number, address or email of a UTA
brother and I will make an appeal directly. We have
also had a couple non-UTA brothers update on the website which
is a great addition to the database and where we will turn
our focus once we get the UTA members updated.
Thanks again for your support in
updating your information.
